El Paso Museum of History- Ashley Mascorro, Week 2
In the second week of my internship, I explored the museum's departments and their role in its success. I researched on behalf of the Community Engagement Associate for an upcoming summer camp. I collected contact information for local schools and possible partners that could advertise the camp. I also went to visit our local university's research library, which I had no idea existed!

The Lhankhang Temple, an ancient temple our university is caring for on behalf of Bhutan.
I was also able to shadow in on a tour of a youth camp. They were so impressed by it all and I learned how to cater a tour to different age groups. Our tour guide gave me tips on how to coordinate the best tour possible, and I now feel confident in being able to thoroughly explain and engage the audience in the exhibits that we have to offer. I not only gained knowledge on what the exhibits are presented on, but I reinforced my soft skills and presenting methods.

This week I was introduced to our museum library and got to alphabetize and input some literary and informative pieces into the database. It was really fun, the museum plans on making the library open to the public for research one day. I was presented with my capstone project at the end of the week and was previewed with some upcoming assignments.
I can't wait!
