Arte Américas-Gabe Ramirez, Week 4
Today was my last day with my folks at Arte Américas; they had one of the best send-off ideas!
This week was a break from the summer camp we had with the kids, but that didn't mean there wasn't planning and projects to do. I had more of a one-on-one with the program manager, who showed me a part of the exhibit that includes her parents! I was honestly very impressed and it seemed like such a good idea for any Latino-related museum to have because it was a very simple explanation of their journey into the United States. Below you'll see images of a map that follows the story of Emma's Journey in a fun, digital, and interactive way.

| One of my favorite things the program manager said about this form of storytelling is that this part of the exhibit is something that won't ever die. |

They bid the two internship besties a cute farewell with cake and presents, which I thought was the cutest thing ever it was so cute. During this year's YAP adventure I did not expect to go to Fresno, and I definitely did not expect to be offered to house by the very kind director Ruth. And I certainly did not expect to feel so strongly about my new community wth my new friends at Arte. The Central Valley has a clear connection to its farm workers and the importance they have to our economy and lives. I've gained a new topic to love and to become even more passionate about the Latino community and its never stopping workforce. Honestly, it was so cool hearing everyone's story, even if it was directly related to the museum. I reflected a lot this month with the curator of the museum, and we both agreed that doing all the hard work people at Arte Americas do would never have been possible if it wasn't for the sense of community encouraging them. Massive shout-out to Sarahí, the program manager, because its leaders like her that step up and made the community at Arte possible.
