Los Angeles County Museum of Art -- Giana Medina Week #4
Dear Diary,
7/25/2022 - 7/26/2022: One of the tasks I focused on this week was data compilation. I was happy to be able to put my AP Statistics knowledge to use as I sorted through Docent responses regarding a variety of different trainings. It was cool seeing the similar thoughts, patterns, and solutions that Docents have at LACMA!
07/27/2022 - 07/28/2022: This week, I also researched LACMA's upcoming exhibition, Afro-Atlantic Histories. Sound familiar? Yup, it's the same exhibit that we saw on view at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.! Afro-Atlantic Histories will be on view at LACMA in December. I researched the past venues that hosted Afro-Atlantic Histories and the programming that each museum enacted to accompany the exhibit. By doing this, LACMA can create new, fresh activities for the Los Angeles community to enjoy.
07/30/2022: Today, I attended the closing celebration of the Family Album exhibit at MacArthur park. LACMA hosted workshops with Star Montana and Las Fotos Project that reflected the familial theme that encompassed the exhibit. LACMA offered a Zine workshop and a free, impromptu photo shoot for those who wanted family portraits! This event tugged on my heart strings; my internship ends in two days, and the closing family celebration made me realize that I would soon be saying goodbye to my family at LACMA.
08/20/2022: Even though my internship at LACMA ended, the family that I made is forever. Today, I met up with my supervisor, Gabriela, in Oakland! We visited the Oakland Museum of Art with a long time friend of her's and ate some delicious food in Downtown Oakland. We will definitely be keeping in touch!
